Ceremony marks Grand Lord Hung Dao’s death anniversary

A solemn ceremony was held at Tran Thuong Temple in Ly Nhan district, the northern province of Ha Nam on September 26 to commemorate the 710 th death anniversary of Tran Hung Dao, a military Grand Commander during the Tran dynasty.

Tran Thuong Temple is one of the country’s three largest temple dedicated to Grand Lord Hung Dao, who commanded the Dai Viet armies to repel two major Mongol invasions in the 13 th century.

In his commemoration speech, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Xuan Loc expressed his deep gratitude to Grand Lord Hung Dao’s great contributions to the nation’s struggle against foreign invaders.

After the commemoration and incense-offering ceremony, a cultural festival opened with special art performances and folk games such as duck catching, chess and tug of war. The festival will last until September 27.

Ha Nam province is home to 59 relic sites worshipping Grand Lord Hung Dao, including 23 in Ly Nhan district. (Source: VNA)
